The BITS XML-file in an E-Book package contains multiple DOI's, one for the complete title and one for each part of the title that is available as a separate PDF document. General principles for assigning these DOI's are set out hereafter.
The following table gives an overview of the Book or Title DOI for the different imprints.
Imprint | DOI structure | Description | Example |
---|---|---|---|
Brill NV imprints | 10.1163/<EISBN> | The Brill prefix (10.1163) in combination with the EISBN for the title | 10.1163/9789004466432 |
Schöningh, Fink, mentis | 10.30965/<EISBN> | The Brill GmbH prefix (10.30965) in combination with the EISBN | 10.30965/9783846767054 |
A full-text BITS XML file consists of different parts. Three type of parts can be distinguished:
General rule is that only parts in category 3 have a separate DOI. These are subsequently numbered, using a three-digit number, starting with 001 as specified in the following table. 001 is often used for the Preliminary Material.
Imprint | DOI structure | Example | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Brill NV imprints | 10.1163/<EISBN>_<nnn> | 10.1163/9789004515468_001 | DOI for the Preliminary material of this ISBN. Note that the PDF includes the table of contents, Acknowledgements and Notes on Contributors. |
Schöningh, Fink, mentis | 10.30965/<EISBN>_<nnn> | 10.30965/9783846767054_004 | DOI for a chapter in EISBN 9783846767054 |
